Annie Billingsley
Annie Billingsley has served the Boise District for the past five years as a teacher and Learning Coach, and most recently as Assistant Principal here at Riverglen.
With 20 years in the classroom, Ms. Billingsley is passionate about student learning and staff development. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies, a Master of Arts in English, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Executive Leadership from Boise State University.
In her new role as Principal of Riverglen, Ms. Billingsley is committed to continuing to strengthen her relationships with Riverglen students, parents, and staff.

Welcome to Riverglen Junior High, Home of the Grizzlies!
I’m excited to serve as the Assistant Principal and support our school community!
I’ve been in the Boise School District since 2016, including four years as an assistant principal at Capital High School. Prior to that, I taught math at Hillside Junior High and served as the Alternative Junior High Summer School Principal for two years.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (2015) and Master of Education in Educational Leadership (2019) from Boise State University.
My family and I enjoy mountain biking, skiing, rafting, and paddleboarding. I’m passionate about supporting junior high students as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally, and prepare for high school and beyond.

Shannon McKay
Shannon McKay has experience teaching many content areas, including English, AVID, Multi-lingual students, and volunteering on technology and leadership committees. Ms. McKay loves to make connections with students. Students check in to her class every day with “Smiles and Frowns,” where they talk about what is going on in their lives. By creating a safe space and connecting their life experiences to content in the classroom, Ms. McKay focuses her teaching on relational capacity and learning.
Ms. McKay started her journey in the classroom 20 years ago as a student teacher in an 8th-grade English classroom. She worked for the Conejo Valley School District in Thousand Oaks, CA, before moving to Boise. She was nominated as Teacher of the Year in 2018. Ms. McKay transferred to the Boise School District in 2019. With her Masters of Education degree and as a Boise State Writing Project Fellow, Ms. McKay considers herself to be a student for life - constantly learning from her students how to be a better teacher!

Riverglen Junior High School: A Boise Community Landmark
Located in Northwest Boise near the foothills, Riverglen Junior High School opened in 1998 to serve the area’s growing population. Built as part of a Boise School District expansion effort, the school quickly became a center for learning, community involvement, and student achievement. Home of the Grizzlies, Riverglen has educated generations of Boise students while fostering strong partnerships with local families. Its welcoming campus and commitment to academic excellence have helped prepare students for success in high school and beyond. More than 25 years after opening, Riverglen remains an important part of Boise’s educational tradition and a valued gathering place for the community.
