How to Obtain a Driver's Permit

REQUIRED ITEMS:

• Must be 14½ to obtain your driver's permit
• An original CERTIFIED birth certificate at the time the permit is purchased.
• Photo Identification (student activity card, military ID, or passport) 
• Social Security Card 
• School completes a Verification of Compliance (VOC). These need to be filled out before school is dismissed for summer… These cannot be obtained after school is out for the summer. 
• Homeschooled students will require a DMV-provided affidavit, which must be signed by their parents. 
• The student and a legal parent/guardian must both go to the DMV to sign for the permit.
• Students are required to take and pass a vision test to receive a permit.
• Tell the staff at the DMV to send the permit to Boise School District.
